SUMMARY:Distributed Fast Boundary Element Methods
DESCRIPTION:Michal Merta, Jan Zapletal, and Michal Kravcenko (Technical Un
iversity of Ostrava, Czech Republic)\n\nWe present a parallel implementati
on of the fast boundary element method (BEM) for the Helmholtz equation. A
fter a brief description of BEM, vectorization of the computationally most
demanding kernels, and shared memory parallelization, we focus on the dis
tributed memory parallelization using a new approach for distribution of t
he fast BEM system matrices among computational nodes. Moreover, we presen
t a modification of the adaptive cross approximation (ACA) method capable
of dealing with BEM matrices containing zero blocks, which usually lead to
problems for the original ACA algorithm. Numerical experiments demonstrat
ing the performance of the implementation were carried out using several I
ntel architectures.\n\nRegistration Category: Tech Program Reg Pass, Exhib
