SUMMARY:Development of Numerical Coupled Analysis Method by Air Flow Analy
 sis and Snow Accretion Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Poster\nTech Program Reg Pass, Exhibits Reg Pass\n\nDevelopmen
t of Numerical Coupled Analysis Method by Air Flow Analysis and Snow Accre
tion Analysis\n\nMurotani, Nakade, Kamata, Takahashi\n\nIn this research,
to take countermeasures for the snow accretion damage, we developed a simu
lator of realizing the snow accretion process in the following steps. Firs
tly, air flow analysis is performed by “Airflow simulator” developed by RT
RI (Railway Technical Research Institute). Secondly, trajectory of flying
snow is calculated by the equation of motion for gravity and drag using di
stribution of velocity of air flow. Thirdly, snow accretion analysis is pe
rformed by “Particle simulator” developed by RTRI. The shape modified by s
now accretion is reflected onto the boundary conditions of the air flow an
alysis. In this year, we show the results of the snow accretion analysis f
or simple cubic shapes in order to aim at system development and validatio
n and discuss the result of the snow accretion analysis for a train bogie
 model.
