SUMMARY:Panel 1: Service-Oriented HPC and Data Infrastructures for Science
  in Germany
DESCRIPTION:Dirk Pleiter (Forschungszentrum Juelich)\n\nAddressing grand c
hallenges in sciences requires HPC and data infrastructures that facilitat
e collaboration and data sharing in combination with the capability to sto
re vast amounts of data as well as to access and process them with high pe
rformance. In this talk we report on efforts of several European supercomp
uting centres towards Fenix, a federated high-performance compute and data
infrastructure. This is currently being implemented by the ICEI project a
s part of the Human Brain Project. As such, the brain research community i
s the main driver for designing this infrastructure. It targets, however,
also other science communities like materials science.\n\nTag: Government
Strategies, Programs, and Funding, HPC Center Planning and Operations, Pos
t-K computer, Professional Development\n\nRegistration Category: Workshop
Reg Pass\n\nSession Chairs: Taisuke Boku (University of Tsukuba, Advanced
HPC‑AI Research and Development Support Center (HAIRDESC)) and David Kahan
 er (Asian Technology Information Program)\n\n
