SUMMARY:Introduction - The 9th International Workshop on Performance Model
ing, Benchmarking, and Simulation of High-Performance Computer Systems (PM
 BS18)
DESCRIPTION:Steven A. Wright (University of York), Stephen A. Jarvis (Univ
ersity of Warwick), and Simon D. Hammond (Sandia National Laboratories)\n\
nThe PMBS18 workshop is concerned with the comparison of high-performance
computing systems through performance modeling, benchmarking or through th
e use of tools such as simulators. We are particularly interested in resea
rch which reports the ability to measure and make tradeoffs in software/ha
rdware co-design to improve sustained application performance. We are also
keen to capture the assessment of future systems, for example through wor
k that ensures continued application scalability through peta- and exa-sca
le systems.\n\nThe aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers,
from industry and academia, concerned with the qualitative and quantitativ
e evaluation and modeling of high-performance computing systems. Authors a
re invited to submit novel research in all areas of performance modeling,
benchmarking and simulation, and we welcome research that brings together
current theory and practice. We recognize that the coverage of the term 'p
erformance' has broadened to include power consumption and reliability, an
d that performance modeling is practiced through analytical methods and ap
proaches based on software tools and simulators.\n\nPerformance modeling,
benchmarking, and simulation will underpin software and hardware design ch
oices as we advance towards the exascale era. This workshop continues to a
ttract high quality input from industry, government, and academia.\n\nTag:
