SUMMARY:Jupyter Notebooks and User-Friendly HPC Access
DESCRIPTION:Ben Glick and Jens Mache (Lewis & Clark College)\n\nHigh perfo
rmance computing systems can be hard to use, and can require advanced know
ledge of the command line, resource managers, and other details that scien
tists without a systems administration background may find distracting. In
this project, we describe our extensible gateway of tools which has allow
ed students and researchers with minimal HPC backgrounds to use our system
with virtually no training. Performance measurements show that our gatewa
y incurs marginal overhead. With only a small performance cost, the gatewa
y provides an easily accessible HPC environment. This environment is speci
ally tailored for education. We provide a means for teachers to easily pro
vide students access to information and assignments, and give students the
ir own personal HPC sandbox, including access to a fully-functional, perso
nalized Jupyter Notebook server.\n\nTag: Diversity, Education\n\nRegistrat
