SUMMARY:Deep Learning by Doing: Nvidia Deep Learning Institute
DESCRIPTION:Xi Chen (University of Kentucky), Joe Bungo (Nvidia Corporatio
n), and Gregory S. Gutmann (Tokyo Institute of Technology)\n\nOver the pas
t two decades, High-Performance Computing (HPC) communities have developed
many models for delivering education aiming to help students understand a
nd harness the power of parallel and distributed computing. Most of these
courses either lack hands-on experience or heavily focus on theoretical ch
aracterization behind complex algorithms. To bridge the gap between applic
ation and scientific theory, NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) has desi
gned an online education and training platform (https://courses.nvidia.com
/) that helps students, developers, and engineers solve real-world problem
s in a wide range of domains using deep learning and accelerated computing
. Accelerated computing course content starts with the fundamentals of acc
elerating applications with CUDA and OpenACC in addition to other courses
in training and deploying neural networks for deep learning. Advanced and
domain-specific courses in deep learning are also available. The online pl
atform enables students to use the latest AI frameworks, SDKs, and GPU-acc
elerated technologies on fully-configured GPU servers in the cloud so the
focus is more on learning and less on environment setup. Students are offe
red project-based assessment and certification at the end of each course.
To support academics and university researchers teaching accelerated compu
ting and deep learning, the DLI University Ambassador Program enables educ
ators to teach free DLI courses to university students, faculty, and resea
rchers.\n\nTag: Education, Scientific Computing, Training, Scalable and Su
