SUMMARY:HPC Education and Training: An Australian Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Karina Nunez and Maciej Cytowski (Pawsey Supercomputing Centre
)\n\nThe Pawsey Supercomputing Centre has been running a variety of educat
ion, training and outreach activities addressed to all Australian research
ers for a number of years. Based on experience and user feedback we have d
eveloped a mix of on-site and on-line training, roadshows, user forums and
hackathon-type events. We have also developed an open repository of mater
ials covering different aspects of HPC systems usage, parallel programming
techniques as well as cloud and data resources usage. In this talk we wil
l share our experience in using different learning methods and tools to ad
dress specific educational and training purposes. The overall goal will be
to emphasise that there is no universal learning solution, instead variou
s solutions and platforms need to be carefully selected for different grou
ps of interest.\n\nTag: Education, Scientific Computing, Training, Scalabl
e and Sustainable Approaches for HPC Training and Education, Emerging Tool
s enabling HPC Training and Education, Lightning Talks and Demos\n\nRegist
ration Category: Workshop Reg Pass\n\nSession Chairs: Evguenia Alexandrova
  (Hartree Centre, STFC; Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC));
Scott Lathrop (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign); Susan Mehringer
(Cornell University); Julie Mullen (Massachusetts Institute of Technology
(MIT), Lincoln Laboratory); Nitin Sukhija (Slippery Rock University of Pen
nsylvania); and Aaron Weeden (Shodor Education Foundation)\n\n
