SUMMARY:SENSEI Cross-Platform View of In Situ Analytics
DESCRIPTION:E. Wes Bethel (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory), David T
hompson (Kitware Inc), Burlen Loring (Lawrence Berkeley National Laborator
y), Silvio Rizzi (Argonne National Laboratory), Brad Whitlock (Intelligent
Light), Matthew Wolf (Oak Ridge National Laboratory), and Patrick O'Leary
(Kitware Inc)\n\nThis tutorial covers the design and use of SENSEI, a pla
tform for in situ visualization and analysis. For simulation developers, y
ou can instrument your code with the SENSEI simulation API and gain access
to a wide variety of I/O, analysis, and visualization tools. For tool dev
elopers, you can add support for the SENSEI analysis API and support a wid
e range of simulations.\n\nAttendees will learn the basics of in situ anal
ysis and visualization — which eliminates the need for writing large simul
ation state files or other data that prevents scaling to large machines —
while being exposed to advanced analysis such as autocorrelation, interact
ive monitoring, and computational steering. We'll demonstrate how simulati
ons can couple to ADIOS, Henson, ParaView Catalyst, and VisIt Libsim throu
gh the SENSEI platform in order to to gain insight from simulation data ev
en when it is increasingly impractical to save it to persistent storage.\n
\nThe tutorial will include a hands-on session that uses a virtual machine
to demonstrate SENSEI features. Please download it before SC18 from https
://www.sensei-insitu.org/ ; it will be available in early November.\n\nTag
