SUMMARY:Opportunities for Extreme Heterogeneity in High Performance Archit
 ectures
DESCRIPTION:Maya Gokhale (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory)\n\nHPC a
rchitectures now provide special-purpose accelerated processing units to a
ugment general purpose compute cores. In the future it is expected that ar
chitectural diversity will greatly increase, with heterogeneous components
appearing at many levels of granularity. In this talk, I will discuss opp
ortunities for including heterogeneous elements in the CPU, memory, and in
terconnect, ultimately resulting in HPC systems as diverse in in architect
ural components as the modern cell phone.\n\nTag: Student Program\n\nSessi
